Great article, it's great to see the R1 new talent scheme bearing fruit - talent development, from the ground up is not talked about enough as the BBC’s main unique selling point against the big tech competition. At the crucial ground level that’s what BBC The Social does (in Scotland) with new digital talent on the daily (with a lot of transferable skills and many with desire to create audio - one of new BBC Introducing Radio Scotland presenters is an alumni of the socials development, to name but one) with the team also delivering talent projects for BBC Three and BBC Sounds. 2019 saw Tony Hall announcing a national roll out of The Social; a proven, award-winning new talent scheme, only for it put on (what appears to be now indefinite) hold, which seems like a huge missed opportunity.
