Radio 1 could do with getting a new line-up; maybe keep Greg James, but have Andy Goulding on 10am-2pm, drivetime from 2-7pm with someone like Jacqui Blay or Darren Spence, and perhaps have a sound sort of like how Pulse 1 or Tower FM was from 2011-2019 when it sounded great.
Radio 1's lost its spark, and needs to see how Pulse, Wish, Wire and Tower did things pre-Bauer buyout; that was radio done right!
Your analysis of smart speakers is interesting. I’m one of the fairly large group who have Apple’s HomePod, yet can’t listen to BBC stations through it because of the BBC’s decision to remove them from TuneIn (which is where Apple get their streams). I can’t get an answer anywhere as to when or why the BBC won’t enable streams somehow for these devices, and so I’ve had to switch to listening to different commercial stations where I can voice activate, set asmorning alarms, etc.
Original model, yes. But the Mini has sold lots more being at such a low price by comparison. So as that effect cumulates it seems strange to me that they can’t offer a live stream without wanting to throw the entire BBC Sounds stuff at it.

It does not need those things.
Top trolling here, truly brilliant.

No one really has a HomePod, so I can understand why it isn't a priority!
